Presentation Guidelines
Please note that all papers are to be presented in the conference venue according to the technical program schedule. IEEE reserves the right to exclude a paper from distribution after the conference (e.g., removal from IEEE Xplore) if the paper is not presented at the conference.
The following information is provided for ICME 2010 authors to prepare for their lecture, poster, and demo presentations.
1. Lecture Presentations
Presentation Time
Each paper will be allocated 20 minutes, of which 16 minutes should be used for the presentation and the remaining 4 minutes for discussion and a timely handover to the next presenter. it is important to adhere to the time schedule allocated for each paper.
Equipment Provided
All lecture rooms will be equipped with a notebook computer, a LCD projector, and a microphone. The computer will be installed with the following software - Microsoft Windows XP or Windows 7, MS Office (Powerpoint) 2007, the latest Adobe Acrobat Reader (PDF reader), and Windows Media Player. Presenters using the provided computer are expected to preload their presentation slides in the computer at the beginning of the respective session. To avoid software compatibility problems, presenters are advised to bring a backup PDF version of their slides.
Presenters may also use their own laptop for the presentation. For compatibility considerations, the LCD projector has a native resolution of 1024x768 and accepts a standard VGA 15-pin input.
Presentation Suggestions
- Make sure each of your points in your slides is explained.
- Ideas presented in each slide should be limited to 4.
- All fonts should be 18 point or higher.
- Use a font color that contrasts sharply with the background.
Important Note
All presenters are to report to the Session Chairs at the assigned room 10 minutes before the start of the session. On the day of your presentation, you may load and test your presentation slides on the computer at the assigned room during the tea/coffee/lunch break before the session.
2. Poster Presentations
Presentation Time
The presenter is to be stationed by his/her poster and periodically make presentations of about 5 minutes and answer questions from audiences around the poster throughout the 1.5-hour poster session. Presenters are encouraged to engage the audiences in technical discussion.

Poster Board's Dimensions
For each presenter, two poster boards will be provided. Each board is 1 meter wide and 1.25 meters high (with 0.75 meter high round base stands, total 2 meters high). The two posters or a few smaller ones must fit into the panel size. Alternatively, a single large poster which spans both panels can be used. Velcro adhesive will be provided at the conference to mount posters on the boards. The presenters are to report to the Session Chairs and put up their posters before the start of the session. All posters must be removed after the poster session.
Organization of Ideas
Poster sessions are a good way for authors to present papers and meet with audience for in-depth technical discussions. The poster is designed to attract audiences, provide an overview of your work, and initiate discussion. It is important that your poster should cover the key points of your work. The poster should include a brief introduction, goals, methods, results, conclusions and references. Graphs, tables and diagrams should be clearly captioned.
3. Demo Presentations
Presentation Time
The presenter is to be stationed by his/her demo, show the demonstration, and answer questions from audiences throughout the one-hour-and-twenty-minute demo session. Presenters are encouraged to engage the audiences in discussion. The presenters are to report to the Session Chairs and set up their demos before the start of the session. All demos must be dismantled after the demo session.
Important Note
Demonstrators are required to bring their own computing equipment and any additional network, display, sensor, etc. hardware needed for the demonstration. All presenters will be provided with a place for their demo, a table and a power outlet (Singapore format, 230 V 50 Hz, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mains_power_around_the_world). Please bring your own adapters/power strip if necessary!
